Life lately: What I’ve been doing, where I have been & what I have been loving

Hello again. It has been a while since I have written on my blog. Looking back at my last post, I really cannot even believe that it has been over a month already! Where has the time gone?! It feels like all my days, hours, minuets, have just been merged into one this month and it has been a little overwhelming at times. I knew that March was going to be a heavy-ish one as my maternity leave ended and I had gone back to my full time job. It really has been quite a transition and finding the balance has been something that I have found challenging to say the least. I plan to write more about this in my next Mother First post and I also plan to share with you all the things that have kind of helped me during this first month back at work.

Since I have been pretty much M.I.A on my blog and across most of my socials, I wanted to do a bit of a lifestyle post and she with you all the things that I have been up to and have been loving as of late. So without further ado, let’s get stuck in!

Where I have been

I wish that I had could say that I had been gallivanting across the sandy beaches of the Caribbean for the past month and a half, I haven’t. Very upsetting, I know. I’ve mainly been in London just getting my bearings again while adding work to the juggling act. A few weeks ago we did go to Sweden twice in the space on 3 weeks which was very nice. It was the first time that we had taken the baby abroad and you can only imagine what I ball of anxiety I was the first time.

The second time we went to Sweden we had gone to Stockholm as tourists really as we normally go to the West of Sweden to visit family. Stockholm was beautiful, calm, clean and just the complete opposite of London in so many ways.

Back to work

I’m back to the 9-5. On my first day back, I decided to go into the office which actually made me feel a lot better about going back. Like I said, it has been a tough transition for me but I think it is getting better slowly but surely. Here is my first day back outfit (sorry about the blurry pic!) and make up look.

Outfit – Jacket is old Jigsaw, scarf is vintage, trousers Mango, bag old Mango, boots old ASOS.

MakeupBrows Revolution, foundation Armani, concealer our YSL, blusher Burberry, lips Fenty, lip pencil NYX, setting powder Hour Glass, lashes Maybeline

Working out

I’ve been trying so so hard at staying active this past month. So far, I am yet to see any results if I am honest.. At the moment I am trying to focus on what makes my body feel good rather than what makes it look good and have also convinced myself that I am bulking too as I don’t think I am ready to change up my diet just as yet. I eat very healthy but struggle with portion control which for now, isn’t the worst thing especially I am staying active (I think!?). Working out for me is also for the mind. A hard work out where I feel strong and as though I have more stamina than my last workout always makes me feel good and makes me feel like I have a clearer head after.

I’ve been doing a lot of for myself lately in terms of staying fit, spending time with friends and family and going to places that I really like. Honestly what I do in my spare time these days is go to the gym or spend time in my local coffee shops wither on my own or with friends. I love to spend time alone there just contemplating life and what my next projects look like. If I am with baby, it’s also a time for us to bond over lunch or a matcha latte and a baby-chino.

What I have been loving lately

I decided to cut all my hair off and try out this new style! For years it has been on my mind, wondering if I could ever be brave enough to do it. For now, I am loving this look and so glad that I had cut it. It has actually reminded me that I have very healthy and very thick hair and knowing that alone makes me feel a sense of confidence when rocking this new look. I think I will likely do a post about my hair at some point. There’s so much that I have learnt about styling and looking after very short 4C hair and I’d love to share so that I can help other people with my hair type.

Other than my hair, I have been loving this pinstriped shirt that I am wearing in the photo above. Fun fact, it was actually my husbands when he was a teenager. We found it packed away a few years ago in my husbands grandad’s house and I instantly knew it was something I would get a lot of wear out of! I have told myself that I probably need to think about upgrading it at some point but until I find a pinstripe shirt that fits and moves as well as this one, it won’t happen.

While I was in Sweden, I found the cutest boutique that stocked nearly all of the handbags on my 2024 accessories Wishlist. Funny enough, I didn’t love all of them which was so so disappointing! The one brand that met expectations and more for me however, was DeMiller. Each bag was so well crafted and looked like it could easily sell for a much higher price point. The bags had a perfect balance between timelessness and trendy all while overreaching in the craftsmanship department.

It really has been a busy, but very good month for me. I posted on my socials that last week felt like a big hug and maybe that’s what I needed to feel motivated and inspired to write again. I’m giving myself more grace when it comes to content creation and only doing it when it feels authentic to me. I enjoy it so much and if I wasn’t life circus tent, clown, ring master, acrobat and juggler then I would defo have more time to spend on creating content that I believe in. For now though, I will share when I can and be content with the little community that I am building in this world.
